Outlook 2007 on Vista - News command gone

Running Outlook 2007 on Vista Home Premium SP1.
The News command in the "Go" menu has disappeared.
Unfortunately, all the info I can find is related to 2003 with Outlook
Express, not 2007 and Windows Mail.
It appears that I can't deselect WM as the default News handler (in order to
re-select it), and I've tried re-setting all the toolbars in Outlook - no
success.

Can anyone help?

The info you found also applies to Outlook 2007. Follow it. There is no
reason you cannot set Windows Mail as your default news reader.

That's the point - if you read my post it already IS the default newsreader.
I can't UN select it in order to RE select it.

Yes you can: Control Panel > Default Programs.

No I can't - it's greyed out.

Then it's a problem with WM, not outlook. Open WM and look at the options -
is WM set as default? Are you logged in as Admin?

Do you want WM in newsonly mode or just easy access? You can create a quick
launch or pinned start menu shortcut for WM using the /newsonly switch.

What's "grayed out?" It would only grayed out in Windows Mail itself.
There's nothing to grey out in Control panel.

No I can't - it's greyed out.

Internet Options-Programs-Set Programs-Set your default programs - click on
Windows mail(news) and I cannot UNSET it as the default news reader. IT IS
GREYED OUT.
What do you not understand about GREYED OUT?
