Outlook 2007 opens 2 windows when I open it

When I click on the Outlook 2007 icon to open the program, it always opens
two windows.

How do I stop that, i.e. have Outlook just open one window?

Thanks.

Are they the same window? Did you open a folder in another window in a
prior session? What happens if you close Outlook using the X?

Hi Milly-

Yes, they are the exact same window. It has happened from the very
beginning, right after I installed MS Office 2007 onto a brand new computer.

So, what I've done is to immediately close the first window using the X, and
just use the second window. I've always only used the second window that
opens up. Everything seems to work fine. It's just very, very annoying to
have two windows open.

Any other thoughts?

Thanks for your help.

Does your shortcut to open Outlook have the /recycle switch at the end?

I removed the switch and opened Outlook. It made no difference. Outlook
still opened two windows of itself.

No, leave that switch alone. It tells Outlook to re-use the same Outlook window when opening Outlook from the same shortcut.

When I click on the Outlook 2007 icon to open the program, it always opens
two windows.

How do I stop that, i.e. have Outlook just open one window?

Try this: when the two windows open, close the second one, then in the
first, click File>Exit. Then try again. What happens?

I am having the exact same problem with my Outlook 2007. It just started
yesterday. I tried Brian's suggestion and it didn't have any effect.

We had the same issue and were able to resolve by setting Internet
Explorer as the default browser. It would open one window with Yahoo
Browser and one with IE.
