Outlook 2007 "Outlook has stopped working" on closing

Anybody solve this problem?

I just upgraded from Outlook 2003 to Outlook 2007 Trial. I'm using OL as a
client for 4 IMAP e-mail accounts (3 gmail). Needless to say OL runs really
s-l-o-w when send/receive mail and often becomes non-responsive for long
periods of time. The problem is that OL 2007 seems to crash when I shutdown
the program "Microsoft Office Outlook has stopped working" and it forces me
to "close the program". No damage seems to occur and everything seems OK when
restarting OL. This does not occur when OL is run in Safe Mode. I've tried
removing all the add-ins, repairing the install, nothing seems to fix the
problem when OL is run in Normal Mode. This never happened with OL 2003.

I've found several posts where people have had similar problems, but no
solution. I'm running OEM Vista Business 32, 4 GB RAM, Core 2 Duo 2.2 Mhz.

Exactly the same here. It's a plain O2007 installation (pst 2.5 GB or
so) with the MS Outlook connector installed to be able to get Hot-/Live
mail email.

Any one any idea?

Same problem here, only it's with the Outlook in the MS Office 2007 SP1
installation that Dell put on my computer at the factory, and the problem
only happens if I've let Outlook stay open for some time. (at least I THINK
Office SP1 was installed when I got the computer, rather than me installing
it myself later...)

Here's what I AM sure of - I've got Vista Ultimate, running on an average
speed Core-2-Duo Vostro (Dell brand name) system with 3 G memory. I imported
my Contacts, Sent Mail, Drafts, and Inbox folders from my old computer
(pre-2003 MS Office, as I recall).

I've already uninstalled Google Desktop from my system, on the
recommendation of another online tech forum, and the problem seems to be a
little bit better, in that when Outlook starts back up automatically after
the "stopped working" message, it doesn't have to "think" as long before
returning to complete normalcy. It used to "think" for 10-15 minutes, and a
little pair of gears appeared in the far right status bar, before giving a
message that everything was OK.

Again, with my case as with yours, no harm seems to be done other than
wasting time, but perhaps this is a harbinger of future problems.

Any ideas, anyone?

Here's what I AM sure of - I've got Vista Ultimate, running on an average

Importing is never the way to transfer data between Outlook instances and
has been known to cause side-effects and profile corruption. I'd start with
a new mail profile to see if that changed anything.

Thanks for the suggestion. If I do create a new profile, will I be able to
retain my (huge) Inbox folder, or easily transfer the folder into the new

Copy the original PST and use it in Outlook on the second PC.

Uh-oh, as well as happening to me in Outlook, it just happened to me after I
closed Adobe Photoshop CS4 (i.e. I got the "...has stopped working" message).
Perhaps this is not a problem with Office, but a more general Windows
problem. Come to think of it, I vaguely recall this happening before to me
with a non-Office application, but I didn't remember it till now.
