In my third monitor I keep an RDP session open that connects to my main
server. On this server I have Outlook 2007 installed. Most of the time the
RDP window is minimized.
I would like to be notified on my local PC when new mail arrives. When the
RDP window is minimized, the New Mail tray alert does not appear on my local
PC. This is as expected since the alert appears in the RDP window. It would
be great if I could get it to appear locally however.
In addition, I set up the following:
1) RDP: Bring sounds to local computer
2) Remote Outlook: Audible email notifications
3) Remote Sound Scheme: New Mail is assigned a sound
When new mail arrives, the sound does not come across the RDP session, event
when the RDP window is maximized and has focus. I checked the audio by
playing some sound via WinAmp and the Sound Scheme applet. In both cases the
audio is brought to my local PC.
#1) The new mail notification sound failure is either a bug or a "feature"
#2) Is there any method to be alerted locally of new mail, in spite of the
RDP window being minimized?
Thanks for your input!
