Outlook 2007 Performance Issues

I recently upgraded my Windows from XP too 7 and I am having major
performance issues with my outlook 2007. My pst file is about 2gb's.
It takes around a minute for outlook to open and after it does it takes 20
to 30 seconds to get a response when do anything either from clicking on an
email, moving it to another folder and writing and email. However I did
notice that when I type an email without opening outlook 2007 everything
looks fine. It's when I open the program itself I have the performance
issues.
I have a Core 2 Duo laptop with 4 gb ram.
I checked the web and I did follow all the procedures as disabling add-ons
and running a diagnostic on my pst files or even trying reduce my PST file by
archiving everything up to last week. It is seriously effecting my work
performance. Can anyone help me?

Have you already applied Service Pack 2 to Office 2007? What is your exact
build number as reported in Help-> About?
Does it work any better when starting Outlook in Safe Mode?
Start-> Run; outlook.exe /safe

I am using Service Pack 2 at the moment.
I did use outlook.exe /safe and it didnt improve anything. I think is
because I am using windows 7 ultimate and it is 64 bit operating system. I
noticed I have 2 program files folders one
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office12
where all my office files are
and one
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12
it is an empty folder

I am also using my pst files from my D Drive could that be the reason

My D Drive is a partition from my hard drive. My PST file is UNICODE
formatted one. I did notice one thing in my control panel my email is listed
as 32 bit might that be the problem?

No, that's also not a problem since Office 2007 is a 32-bit application and
a 64-bit version of Windows is able to run 32-bit applications as well.

Which add-ins are listed in Tools-> Trust Center-> Add-ins?
What is the exact build number of Outlook? Help-> About...

Did you try it with a new mail profile already?
See http://www.howto-outlook.com/faq/newprofile.htm

I have no addon active in my Add-ins screen. Had to dissable them in to
increase performance.
My office is not in English so I guess this is the build number you were
asking.
Office Outlook 2007 (12.05.6514.500) SP2 (12.0.645.1000)

If you create a new mail profile, for testing purposes, without linking the
original pst-file, is Outlook still slow then?
If not, copy over the contents of your original pst-file to the new one (do
not use import). Disconnect the original pst-file and restart Outlook. See
if Outlook maintains its speed (the re-indexing could cause some performance
degradation at first).

It could be that your pst-file has been flooded with hidden items and other
meta information by an add-in that you had installed previously.

I did what you asked and I did notice a huge performance improvement when I
made the new personal files as my primary PST. I did try to make my previous
PST primary and performance did go down.
Thank you for your help.
