outlook 2007 problem

I have just recently purchased a new Dell laptop running an Intel
T5600 @ 1.83 GHz, 2 core, 2 logical processors with 2gig ram. After a
few weeks getting the bugs worked out everything seems to be fine,
EXCEPT Outlook. From the very first time I opened the program it was
extremely slow. Moving from the inbox to the calendar took several
seconds. Even using the menu button at top will momentarily cause it
to post the (not responding) info. I have used outlook 97, 2000, and
2003 with no problems. I figured 2007 would be better than ever. I
am wishing I had never moved up to 2007. Does anyone have any idea of
what could be the problem? I have read some of the other forums but
those problems are not exactly like mine. It is just slow or
unresponsive.

Do you have Media Direct on that laptop? If so uninstall the cyberlink addin
for outlook.
Did you install the outlook performance update from microsoft.com/office?

Thank you, thank you! I went through the control panel and unistalled
the cyberlink addin along with another one (calendar printing help
addin) while I was there. It actually responds immediately to a mouce
click. I can actually choose the calendar button and it immediately
opens instead of waiting 15-20 seconds. THnak you again. I was about
ready to install my outlook 2K and start using it. -John

Hello all!
Okay so I tried everything I could find on the web and in the discussion
boards and nada helped me at all. Finally I did one thing that seems to make
a HUGE difference for me. I uninstalled the SSQL server (likely installed
with the Small Business Edition w/Business Contact Manager) and Voila! .. so
far everything is working fantastic and my entire system is running fast
again! Check if you have this and if you don't need it - try that and see if
that makes a difference on your end as well.

While this may work in some cases, when it happens on a newer Dell laptop
it's more likely the Media Direct add-in from Cyberlink.
