I am running Outlook 2007 on Windows XP. This morning I installed the backup
utility by following the instructions provided within these message boards,
and it installed fine. I then performed a backup of my .pst file per
instructions, again with no problem. When I look at my .pst files using
Windows Explorer (both the backup version and the original version in
documents and settings\user\local settings\application data\microsoft\office)
they appear to be the same size. Next, I went into Outlook and opened the
backup version, just to make sure it was working. Everything appeared to be
in order EXCEPT for one major issue. In my inbox, the most recent message
was dated 2/22/2008. Today is 7/7/2008. So for some reason, I lost almost
5 months worth of email messages. My calendar and contacts seem up to date -
just the emails are missing. This is true of the all of the other subfolders
in my inbox as well.
Any thoughts on why this happened or how I can correct it, so that I can
properly backup my .pst file, would be greatly appreciated.
