Outlook 2007 Reading Pane HUGE Text

E

Erin Dekker

I'm in Outlook 2007...

Once upon a time in Outlook 2003 you could click Ctrl and scroll the mouse
down or up and it would change the size of the text/images in the reading
pane... sure it still does that but how do you get the size to stick?

Now all my emails are HUGE in appearance the HTML emails I'm getting don't
even fit on the page. Is there a registry key that I could change to set
this?

Erin,

Go to View -> Current View -> Define Views -> The Customer View Organizer
Dialog Box appears...choose the view desired to edit -> Click the Modify
Box -> Adjust the view to how you'd like it, there are an array of options.

Hope this helps.

I don't think you are understanding my problem...

The actually emails that appear in the reading pane are enlarged by Outlook
some how. If you click on the message in the Reading Pane and hold down the
Ctrl and use the mouse scroll the size of the email in the pane (wording and
images) get larger or smaller. I want that setting to stick. So if that's
what you understand... please explain exactly where in this dialog box tells
me how to do that.

Thanks,
Erin

Erin,

Try this:

Change the font size for plain text messages from Tools, Options, Mail
Format tab, Stationary and Fonts button, Personal Stationary Tab, click on
Font... button under "Composing and reading plain text messasges and set
your font, size and type.

Hope this helps.

Again - not helping. that makes the font smaller for text based messages.
What about HTML based messages with graphics? That's my main problem. They
are HUGE! So large they are distorted due to them being enlarged by Outlook.

You can only change the font size for the Reading Pane in Outlook 2003 by
right clicking the tiny grey border around the Reading Pane.

That is to say that if you look in the reading pain your email message will
be surrounded by a thin grey (blue in Windows Vista). If you right click in
it you should see a "Text Size" option.

Hope this helps.

I'm having the same problem in Outlook 2000. I click to view an email message
and at automatically enlarges to 166%. It's driving me nuts!

Help!

Erin,
I understnad what you mean!
I have the same problem, the IT department where I work cant even figure it
out. I know I held down the Ctrl button, but dont remember what else,
needless to say, I have looked up and down and everywhere else, I still can't
get my screen back to normal.

I am happy that I am not the only one.

Depending on the message format, holding CTRL and scrolling the mouse wheel
will change the size.

I think I got it!!!!!! If you're using Word to edit your email, it's in Word
where the fix lies. I opened up Word, started a new document, and then
resuize back to 100% and close it. Now my email preview pane is back to
normal. The zoom adjustment is at the top beside the style box. Give it a try
and see if this solves your problems.

Thanks for posting your solution. You are now considered an Outlook expert.
Seriously.
