Outlook 2007 scanpst.dll file problem. Someone Please help.

Chuck Jennings

I have Outlook 2007 and when I try to download emails, delete emails, move
emails... anything... I get an error that says tjhe Outlook.pst file is busy
and cannot be accessed.

The message tells me to run scanpst.exe

When I run that program, I get a message that says it cannot find the
scanpst.dll file.

That is where I am lost. I have done everything to try and find that file.
I have tried to back-up Outlook. I have tried to restore from an older
back-up. I am still stuck.

ANyone have a solution to how I can get the scanpst.exe file to run?

Why are you trying to run the scanpst.dll when the error message CLEARLY
states to run scanpst.exe???

Easy misunderstanding, but Mr. Jennings is not trying to run scanpst.dll. In
his post, he is trying to run the program referred to in the previous
paragraph, which is scnspst.exe. I am having the same problem. The only
solutions seems to be to copy the *.pst file to a flash drive, and try to
repair it on a computer that can run the executable file. But does anyone
know how to repair the utility on their own computer so it will run?

I have never had an issue with the tool - a few things to be aware of is
that Outlook.exe may be running in task manager - ensure all instances are
closed before running.
