OS..Vista Home Prem32bit\Running Outlook 2007.

I ran Scanpst on my pst file (Scanpst that was on my PC, I did not download
it); it ran thru all 8 processes and returned Errors Found. I clicked Repair;
accepted the overwriting and new backup be created. It showed Reapir
Completed. I decided to run it again to confirm No Errors. Again it came
back showing Errors Found. I ran Repair; it acknowledged Repair Completed.
I closed Scanpst, re-opened it and ran it a 3rd time...exactly the same
results as the 1st and 2nd Run. Under DETAILS it reads :"Internal errors
were found in this file. They must be repaired for this file to work
correctly." It keeps showing Folders Found in this file 67\Items found in
this file 845. The pst file is 53MB in size.

What must I do to get a Clean repair of my pst file?

Can you still open your pst-file in Outlook even though it has issues?
File-> Open-> Outlook Data File...

If so, create a new pst-file via File-> New-> Outlook Data File... and copy
the contents from one pst-file to the other within Outlook.

If that doesn't work, you'll have to restore your last working version from
backup or try a 3rd party recovery tool.

Yes....Outlook as to all activites I normally do....is running fine. Its
just the results of the Scanspt that ius concerning. Scanpst runs advising
errors found, it runs Repair....and shows Repair Completed....but when you
run it again, you get Error Found....with the same Folders\File numbers
displayed...and the Details read the same......

Microsoft offers the Inbox Repair Tool to correct most of the issues with
corrupted PST file. Although, this tool works in some cases of PST corruption
but it is not always capable of handling PST Corruption and its repairing
process may further corrupt your pst file.

May be your pst file is highly corrupted!

You can try third party pst repair software such as Stellar Phoenix Outlook
PST Repair software which could repair your corrupt pst file more efficiently.

In that case, I'd leave the pst-file for what it is and start with a new one
and copy the contents of the pst-file that is having issues.

I'm nowhere near your level of expertise and so forgive me but I would
appreciate more detailed instructions. I know how to create a new profile,
but than in order to see messages I have saved in folders I would need to
switch back and forthe between the new Profile and the one that is displaying
the issues after running Scanpst. You wrote, copy the contents of the pst
fie that is having issues? I don't understand....how would I know what part
is having issues? How would I copy "parts" of the PST file? Why would
Scanpst tun and show Repair Completed....but when you run it again it shows
the same Error Information? Thats for your patients with me.....in the past
you have worked me thru others issues and I would very much like to get this
one resolved with your guidance.

The details to create a new pst-file were already in my first reply to you
;-)

File->New-> Outlook Data File...
Simply copy all the contents from your current pst-file to the new.

Then you can set the default delivery location to that new pst-file via;
File-> Data File Management...

Restart Outlook and disconnect the pst-file that had the errors also via;
File-> Data File Management

There is no need to recreate your mail profile.

As to why;
Scanpst.exe is not able to fix all the type of corruptions in a pst-file.
There are various tools that are doing a more thorough job at it but these
usually don't come cheap. As long you still can open the pst-file in
Outlook, starting with a new pst-file and copying the content to the new
pst-file is the better option then.

Sorry, I should have gone back and reviewed your earlier reply. For my
education, I create a new Data File following your method. Then I open the
new Data File and "Copy" and copy all the contents from my current suspected
Data File into the new File.

Since I know Import is something you should not do, how do I "copy" the
contents of my current File to the New File? I know how to copy and paste a
file from a folder into another Folder.....but that is not the case here...
it is copy from a file to a file????

How is this different from Creating a new profile, and does one have any
advantages over another?

Lastly, am I not just duplicating the same issue ....when moving the
contents of my current file into the New File?

I believe I found out how to copy... I Created a New data File as you
directed. I opened that New File in Outlook. I then held down Ctrl...and I
dragged my INBOX from the current File to the New one and I saw the Inbox
under the newly Created Personal Folders list. I then decided to run Scanpst
on this New pst file....it only had the 2 Folders created with its creation
and the Inbox I moved to it. When I ran Scanpst...to my disappointment it
showed errors. I ran Repair, it showed Repair Completed. I ran Scanpst a
2nd time, same results...it showed errors and the Detail description was the
same and the Files\Items were the same. as the 1st run. It is as if Scanpst
is saying Repair Completed when that is not so. However, File numbers and
items Found numbers were different from the numbers displayed when I ran
Scanpst on my original file (had the File\Items found numbers returned by
Scanpst displayed following the run on the new pst File been the same as the
Original File's results I would have concluded the problem was with
Scanpst...but that was not so).

I await your input after your review of my last 2 replies.....and will take
no further actions until then.

As we have found that scanpst.exe is solution to repair corrupt minor corrupt PST. But if PST is corrupted badly then an automated Outlook recovery tool will help you to recover damaged PST file data in a new healthy PST formats. Get other function with tool like: splitting option, password protected PST recovery, hard deleted items recovery and etc.
