Outlook 2007 Shared Calendar

I have a shared calendar in Outlook 2007 that is used by many users to add,
delete, etc to it. In their calendar in Outlook beside this shared calendar
is shows a number behind the name - ex. First Appt (1032). But this number
in () is different for all the users that have access to it? Why? And what
does this number represent. We are concerned everyone is not seeing all the
information on that calendar.
