Outlook 2007 - Single email address... multiple users?

We just installed outlook 2007 and need to set up a single email address for
which multiple users can access.

What is the best approach when I need a single generic email account which
multiple people will need to access and act upon - simulataneously. No need
for a calendar or contacts, we are just responding to customer emails. There
must be others who have the same need and came up with the answer. Any
suggestions?

Sharing calendars was easy.. but this one is baffling.

What is your e-mail server? Do you have an Exchange Server?

With an Exchange Server the best solution would probably be to use a Public
Folder or perhaps a distribution list. Without one I guess you'd have to
set up a POP account and set up all the users to access it but also set it
up to leave a copy of the messages on the server.

Yes we have an Exchange Server. I"ll do some research on Public Folders.
Thanks for the insight.

Outlook isn't the best tool for that, then, unless you're using an Exchange
server. Are you? It makes a difference in the answer.

I though you said you didn't need calendaing.

Hi Brian.. yes we have an exchange server. The inboxes we want to set up
are global and would be used strictly for reading customer mail - thus my
comment on calendar functions- not necessary to the intent of these global
accounts. I am still trying to determine how 1 global email address can be
accessed easily by multiple people simultanously. Any ideas?

If it's a mailbox, just give the username/password to all of the people you
want to access it and turn off cached Exchange mode. Let everyone log into
the same mailbox. They'll all see the same thing and can work on it.

Especially if you just want to read - the best solution is going to be to
create a Public Folder on the Exchange server and assign it the address you
want it to receive mail for.
