I have loaded Outlook 2007 (upgrade from 2003) and have experienced slowness
in the calender section when moving appointments around. I searched and
found a ton of similar experiences so that made me feel a little better.
Unfortunately, I didn't find any solutions. I tried disabling the Windows
Search service, cleaning up my PST, etc...etc... None worked.
I decided to start fresh (running Vista Business) by creating a new profile
and fresh instance of Outlook. When I did that, I noticed that I could move
calendar entries around very quickly. So, I went back to my "problem"
instance of Outlook and tried to determine what was different. I found that
when I was viewing a page of appointments with multiple entries on it viewing
by day, or week, it was SLOW moving appointments around.
I went to a week that had none and created one. It moved around fine. I
continued adding appointments to the week and it became increasingly slow as
I did. Also, the size of the appointment seemed to matter as well. Larger
appointments (spanning several hours) move slower.
I am not sure if this will help anyone at Microsoft fix this issue, but
thought I would throw it out there. I am looking forward to understanding
the root cause of this issue and getting a fix! For now, I am going to try
and move a lot of my appointments to Tasks and see if that helps, since most
of mine are really "to do's".
