Outlook 2007 SP1 and Windows Search 4.0 problem

We have 2 XP Pro computers with Outlook 2007 and Windows Search 4.0. One is
XP Pro SP2 and the other is XP Pro SP3. Tuesday afternoon both started
having problems with Outlook crashes. When OL was started it took longer
than normal to load. When it is closed it seemed to close normally but after
about 10 seconds it generated an error. I clicked the Send to Microsoft.
When I checked the Application Event Log it seems like the error actually
happened when Oulook was started. Here is the errors:

Event ID 34 Source: Outlook
Failed to get the Crawl Scope Manager with error=0x8001010d.

Event ID 35 Source: Outlook

Failed to determine if the store is in the crawl scope (error=0x8001010d).

Event ID 1000 Source: Microsoft Office 12

Faulting application outlook.exe, version 12.0.6316.5000, stamp 4833a470,
faulting module olmapi32.dll, version 12.0.6315.5000, stamp 4824a985, debug?
0, fault address 0x0001c860.

This seems to have started after WS crashed.

Event ID 3024 Source: Windows Search Service

The description for Event ID ( 3024 ) in Source ( Windows Search Service )
cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry
information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer.
You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description;
see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the
event:

Context: Windows Application, SystemIndex Catalog

I reindexed WS but that didn't help.

The short term fix for the problem was to uninstall WS 4.0. Once I did that
Outlook started working correctly and there are no more events in the log.

We do need WS but I'm not going to reinstall it until I can find a fix for
whatever is causing the problem.

Any ideas?
