Hi All,
I have setup a Windows 2003 R2 SP2 based Terminal Server farm with Office
2007 SP1. All components of Office 2007 are working at acceptable speed, but
Outlook is very very slow when opening Emails or scrolling through the Inbox.
Other actions in Outlook 2k7 are working as expected, like opening menus,
etc. Other applications that are installed also work good (like SAP GUI,
which is not a light weight application).
I run Exchange 2007 SP1 with one Client Access Server (CAS) on the same
1Gbit LAN. When I open Outlook Web Access from within the Terminal Services
session, the speed of scrolling through mails and opening is very very good.
No delays whatsoever, so I guessed this ruled out my Exchange setup being
part of the problem.
Because Outlook is installed on a Terminal Server, Outlook prevents running
in cached exchange mode, so this means I am running in Online mode. If I have
a look at user profiles, no OST files are present. There are users with large
PST files (well, below 2GB for an Email archive I do not consider large, but
OK) but these are located on a file server on the same LAN.
When I open task manager I see all outlook.exe processes consuming approx
100MB of memory (which I think is way to much) and I notice high I/O
read/write counters (compated to other running user processes).
Does anyone has a clue what might be wrong with my setup ? This is really
giving me headaches for some weeks now.
Any info/help would be appriciated, if you need more info, please let me know.
