Outlook 2007 SP2 cannot open address list on Exchange Server

Hi.

I've used Outlook 2007 SP1 with Exchange Server 2007 (08.01.0240.006),
nothing wrong.

I installed Office 2007 SP2 this morning on my laptop and found Outlook
cannot get the address list.

After Outlook started, I can see "All folders are up to date." and
"Connected to Microsoft Exchange". I can read my emails, tasks and tasks
shared by another coworker.
But when I want to open address list (create a new email, press "To..."
button in the new window), a message box is shown with text:
The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online
or connected to complete this action.
After closing that window, all other functions except this seems to be ok.
At the same time, other coworkers can visit the address list by using
Outlook 2007 SP1.

How to fix this?

Outlook Version: 12.0.6423.1000 SP2 MSO 12.0.6425.1000

This would appear to be a office 2007 SP2 issue. I've installed the
update on 2 PC's running Vista Business and both PC's have exactly the
same issue and error message. A complete reinstall of the software
hasn't worked either!

However all the other office 2007 users without SP2 run quite happily.
For now the only way I can see is uninstall or don't install SP2.

Thanks you very much.

So, the programmers/testers of M$ don't think we need both Outlook and
Exchange...

I hope to see a hotfix very soon...

I am having similar problems in that although I am connected to teh
excange server, outlook tells me it cant perfomr the operation unless it
is online. I then make outlook offline and it work?

I have experienced this ONLY since applying SP2 and it happens to
contacts, appointments and meeting requests. Cant find anything on the
Microsoft site although have seen a few rumbles on Technet.

Can't even uninstall SP2, does anyone know how to?

Thanks for the prompt reply. I am assuming therefore its something at
the server end and as I have hosted Excnage service, I shall now go and
other my Service Provider! Thanks for pointing me in the right
direction.

Same issues here, cannot connect to Exchange 2003 from Outlook 2007 SP2
client. But here is the twist in my case; It all works fine on the
local LAN, but using an IPSec VPN causes the issue. When I move the
offending computer from the VPN to the Local LAN, the problem
disappears. Every other app works just fine. Anybody got anything?

Have you tried the hotfix here?

You'll need to request access to it as its not publically available but
try it. Worked fine on ours once installed.
