Outlook 2007 SP2 is taking longer to shutdown

Eric

Most of my users are complaining about the new service pack extending the
shutdown time in Outlook. I noticed that when I close outlook while running
process monitor it shows that it is still writing to the OST file. This
happens on some users machines for upto and even over an hour! the OST files
are no larger then 750mb. I have disabled all addons, to try and
troubleshoot this issue and nothing has changed with the shutdown times. Any
ideas, input, or suggestions are greatly appricated.

We are currently an XPsp3 office with exchange 2003

If anything, Outlook 2007 with SP2 is much faster with shutting down than
without the service pack. It might be more visible to you now because SP2
adds the option to see Outlook's running status in the Notification Area
even when there is no main Outlook window available.

Are you sure you are not running applications that require the outlook.exe
process to be running? No connected mobile devices either (connected via
BlueTooth perhaps so it is not apparent)?
