A week ago I noticed that Outlook 2007 on an old desktop in a guest
room no longer was downloading any data from the Exchange server at
work. I have tried absolutely everything I can think of but nothing
seems to change this. Meanwhile, three other computers at home (we
have a site-license arrangement which allows us to use Office on our
home computers) with Outlook 2007 are having no problems at all with
my Outlook account.
Here is what I have tried so far:
1. Deleting the .ost file. Outlook acquires a few thousand kilobytes
of data and then simply stops. The last entry in event viewer is an
information entry which says:
“The store C:\WINNT\Profiles\Administrator.000\Local Settings
\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\outlook.ost is being re-pushed to
the indexer for the following reason: Index reset, re-push entire
store.”
2. Completely removing my antivirus program temporarily.
3. Restoring the system partition from an image taken a few weeks ago
when Outlook was working fine on this machine.
4. Purchase RegCure and “clean out” the registry with it.
5. Installing Office SP2.
Nothing I have done, not even going back to an image from a time when
everything was working well in Outlook, has any effect on this
behavior.
Does anyone have any ideas about what is going on and how to fix it—or
at least how to troubleshoot this problem?
Thanks in advance!
