I use outlook 2007 in a multilingual environment (WinXP), where I receive
e-mail messages also in Russian and Hebrew. Sometimes a Hebrew mail arrives
with an attached file that carries a file name in Hebrew, and this Hebrew
name may get corrupted by the system (or the server). Thus instead of seeing
a file named xxxx.doc (where xxxx are Hebrew characters) Outlook 2007 shows
an attached file named .doc or -.doc, or something similarly curious.
When Outlook 2007 reaches such a message, it hangs on send/receive. It exits
with an error message ("unable to close" etc.), restarts automatically, and
then displays the last offending message with the corrupted attachment (which
I see as an attachment but cannot open). Outlook 2007 does not continue
downloading the mail unless I directly go to the server and delete the
message with the offending attachment (my Outlook 2007 is set to "keep mail
on server").
Very annoying of course. What to do?
Thanks for any inputs,
