Outlook 2007 time zone calendar synch

Hello;

I have an issue when I attempt to synch my mobile smart phone and laptop
using Outlook 2007. I have my laptop set for my home time and leave it there,
but my phone is adjusted to my present location as I travel a lot through as
many as 11 time zones in 2 days. I set appointments and reminders for the
time at the location I will be example 1:00PM Moscow, 5:00 PM Paris to
coincide with local time. When I synch the times are all changed to the phone
local time and hence all wrong, by as much as 11 hours.

Is there a way to prevent Outlook from changing the times?

Thanks

I don't think so, but if such an ability were to exist, it would hav
to be a function of the sync software, not Outlook

You need to make the appointments in the time zones they will occur in then
adjust the time zone in outlook. Or set the phone's time zone not to change
with the network (I know blackberries support this).

Thank you for the suggestion. My HTC does not allow for this feature as you
note for the Blackberry, as any change in time zone automatically adjusts the
calendar function. I can leave the phone on my home time but then the
reminders do not work properly unless I have manually figured out the time
zone difference. Then also I must remember when I am in a new time zone to
mentally shift the appointment to the local time.

This of course is far more complex than it need to be, although I appreciate
there is underlying programming issues that I may not fully appreciate. A
button function to disable Outlook from adjusting the times might be useful.
Surely it can figure out the reminders based on the appointment time vs local
time.

Anyway Thanks so much for your suggestions.

Use the dual time zone feature to show the appointments in your home time
zone and in a second time zone. Outlook 2007 has a time zone button you can
click to create the appointments in the correct time zone - use this feature
when you make the appointments.
