Outlook 2007 "unexpectedly quits" on second email attempt

This one's a wierd one. Outlook 2007 to Exchange 2003 via RPC/HTTPS (though
problem occurs when plugged into LAN with server and with RPC unchecked). I
can run Outlook and read/sort/drag mail all day long. I can send one email
fine (New, Reply, Fwd) and it sends fine ... when I click for a second email
(New, Reply, Fwd) I get an hourglass for about 5 seconds and then Outlook
"unexpectedly quits". I have uninstalled, reinstalled, etc and the problem
just stays. Even wierder is that it's occuring on my laptop AND home
computer. My Office PC is fine (though it has never been set to RPC/HTTPS).
This one has me baffled ... I've tried both the downloaded install that I've
had and the disc I got with my Action Pack. Wierd part on the laptop is that
the problem just started suddenly. 2007 was running fine, then suddenly this
started happening.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Update: The problem does not occur in SAFE mode ... I also ruled out
signature file corruption
