Outlook 2007 - Vista - 3G - VPN - Exchange - disconnected

hi everyone,

I am having a problem with our notebooks trying to connect to Exchange
through a 3G mobile connection and VPN (Zyxel / Greenbow client). If we
connect them through ADSL + VPN there's no problem. But as soon as it's on 3G
og modem, it won't work, Outlook says "Disconnected".

I looked around on the net and it seems that the problem exists all over,
and has been a problem for quite some time now, but I can't find any solution
elsewhere.

Here's a few facts :

- Running Vista Business SP1, Outlook 2007, Small Business Server 2003
- Trend Micro Client Server Antivirus
- Notebook/user is logging on as domain user
- Using Vodafone (Huawei) 3G card for connection
- pinging the SBS/Exchange server by name or IP works fine
- host file and LMHOSTS is pointing to server
- surfing the net works
- tried flushing DNS, nothing
- when online and running ipconfig /all the 3G card shows IPS DNS servers,
and they are apparently not to be altered, the config file on the USB dongle
is read-only - and I can't even change the R/O status
- Outlook 2003 works fine

I read somewhere about Outlook 2007 exceeding IMAP connections, but haven't
had any luck tampering with that.

Help is needed and appreciated.

Did you ever get this working?

I'm having the same type of problem

I had a similar problem using a Cisco VPN client and was able to resolve it by:

1: disabling IPV6 from all networking clients and
2: adding the WINS server for the 'Office' network

Let me know how this works
