I have a Dell 830 latitude laptop running Vista Business in a docking
station. I use the reading pane. I have a USB (Western Digital) hard drive
attached. At regular intervals this hard drive goes to sleep. This is built
in to the drive itself and does not appear to be a part of Windows power
management.
If the drive is asleep, and I scroll to some, but not all, e-mails, the
drive will wake up and Outlook will freeze for the 7 or 8 seconds it takes
for the drive to wake.
This happens multiple times during the daya and is very annoying.
Although I'm not certain, the common factor on the e-mails that cause this
appears to be that they have one or more embedded images. This includes every
internal corporate e-mail as everyone uses the same signature that includes
an image.
Does anyone know how to stop Outlook from doing this?
Thanks,
Tom
