We have a user running a Dell Latitude D630 w/ 2 GB of RAM running Office
2007 Pro Plus on XP SP2. We have another user running a Dell Latitude D620
w/ 2 GB of RAM running Office 2007 Pro Plus on Vista Enterprise. Both use
Outlook (in cached mode) against an Exchange 2003 SP2 server over a WAN.
When both users exit outlook, the application closes however the process
continues but the memory usage does not change. I have disabled ALL add-ins
and it still occurs. To troubleshoot, I disable cached mode. It closes
EVERY time and seems to fix the problem. Apparently there is an issue with
the way cache mode works and what Outlook is doing in the background when it
is closed. Both users have large PST files (~500MB) and their mailboxes are
~230MB and ~150MB respectively.
