Outlook 2007 will not move "Flag Status"?

D

DennisPBray

I can not get Outlook 2007 to move the "Flag Status" anywhere but the far
right of the screen.

Customizing current view.
Using field chooser.
Do not work. It seems to move the flag. But is still displayed on far
right.

I've seen several other people comment on this but it was buried in older
threads so I thought I would start a new one highlight this problem. Thanks

Then all the Outlook Help documents are incorrect (both imbedded and online).
They specifically tell you that the column can be moved.

Is this an development error that will be fixed in a future maintenance
release?

Also Outlook 2007 Help has the following topic.......
Show or hide the flag column
Which has........
Add the Flag Status column
.........
Remove the Flag Status column
.........
Move the Flag Status column
1) In the main Outlook window, on the View menu, point to Current View, and
then click Customize Current View.
2) In the Show these fields in this order list, select Flag Status, and then
click Move Up or Move Down until Flag Status is in the position that you want.

Thanks
Dennis

There are two flag fields - the quick flag can't be moved, the old flag
field can be. You need to disable quick flags to enable the movable flag
field.

I do not have "Quick Click" enabled. Also, there is only one "flag status"
field - the other fields that are related to this field do not show the
bitmap icon. I have had this same problem with Outlook 2000 and 2003 but in
those versions I was able to work around it by removing the field and then
re-adding it. This is not possible in 2007. This is definitely a bug and
has been for some time - it's time to fix it.

Maybe you need to better explain what you are trying to do as I can easily
move the flag column in all versions, including 2003 and 2007. In ol2003 and
2007, use the follow up flag field and it can be moved around.

There is a column that is present by default called "Flag Status" in the
INbox or any mail folder that shows only the icon of the flag. By default it
is present at the far right of the columns, next to the Categories column.
Unlike the "follow up flag" field which is not present in the diplay by
default and must be added, this field ONLY shows the ICON of the flag, no
words are present, thus minimizing the amount of space it takes up on the
screen. Read the posts prior to this, in particular the ones by DennisPBray
who like myself, read the Help file on how to move this column, which should
work for any and all columns, but does NOT work for this column. In versions
2002 and 2003, there is a workaround that requires you to first remove the
column. This work around does not work in 2007. If you like, I can send you
screen shots. Again, the "flag status" field is not the same as the "follow
up flag" field.

I really liked the flag status, cuz of the different color flags for
different needs,
but most importantly, so that I could have it where it was on the far
left of
my screen and movable, not the far right, and unmovable. Is there
anyway to get the
flag status column to move again to your preferences???
