Outlook 2007 Won't Connect With Servers

Outlook 2007 refuses to work correctly on my wife's computer running
XP. It works fine on my Vista Ultimate x64. When I originally
replaced Outlook 2000 with Outlook 2007 on the XP computer it worked
fine but then Outlook 2007 spontaneously stopped working. The issue is
that it would no longer connect to any of the several mail servers that
I had configured. I had changed nothing in the account settings,
Outlook 2007 just started refusing to connect to any of the several
accounts that are configured and had previously been working. I tried
to "Repair" the accounts from within Outlook and then I tried to repair
the entire installation from the CD. Neither procedure fixed the
problem. I then uninstalled and reinstalled Outlook 2007. This worked
for about a half a day and then all the accounts spontaneously stopped
connecting again. I once again uninstalled and reinstalled but this
time it did not solve the problem. I configured the accounts with the
exact same settings in OE as a test and they all work fine. I'm at a
total loss to figure out how to get Outlook 2007 working. Strange,
because it's working great on my Vista x64 PC. I'm at the verge of
reverting back to Outlook 200 on my wife's XP PC. Any ideas?

I get a similar problem with outlook 2007 and vista premium edition.

When I try to connect to my email server it keeps asing me to enter the
password. It doesnt store it.

Ive found info for XP and deleting part of the registry, but it doesnt seem
to work for Vista, any ideas?

I don't think our problem are similar. My trobulesome XP installation
of Outlook 2007 doesn't even find the servers. I don't get to the
point where a password is required. My Vista installation works just
fine.

For the record, I thought I'd post the solution to my problem. The
failure was caused by my anti-virus suite, Trend Micro Internet
Security 2006. This version is not compatible with Outlook 2007. I
updated to Trend Micro Internet Security 2007 and all is now working
fine. The Outlook installation worked OK initially because I had
turned off the anti-virus software as part of the Outlook 2007
installation process. That's why Outlook worked OK for a short while.
By the next time I that tried to use Outlook 2007, I had turned on the
anti-virus software, so Outlook failed. This is why it seemed to quit
working "spontaneously".

And the exact text of the errors you get is? What does diagnostic logging
tell you? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/831053/en-us

There's never any reason to integrate your antivirus program with your mail
client. It doesn't add to your protection and can cause the problem you
saw. You probably didn't need to upgrade the Trend product.
