Outlook 2007 won't install with the office 2007 trial

I downloaded the trial version of office 2007. When the install was
completed and I tried to start the apps they were all fine except outlook
which started my original Office pro 2000 version. I went back to the
download site and tried to download the outlook app (trial version 2007)
alone and it took me to the office 2007 pro version download page. I
cancelled and uninstalled the standard version of office 2007 from my
computer and then downloaded and installed the professional version. Still
the outlook app did not install. I then went to the add/remove programs menu
and selected office pro 2007 and selected change. From the change menu I
selected add remove components. On that menu outlook had a red x. How can I
get outllok 2007 trial version to install on my computer?

The Office 2007 trial editions leave in place any prior Office versions when you use the default install choice. This is to make it
easier to 'go back' to an older version if you decide not to convert the trial to a paid copy later.

Outlook can't be present in two different versions, so the 2007 one doesn't by default, install. To use Outlook 2007:

1. Backup your files for safety.

2. Use Add/Remove Programs in the Windows control panel, select the Microsoft Office (older version) choice and set Outlook for that
version to 'Not Available' state, to remove that feature.

3. Restart the PC then from Add/Remove Programs use the
Microsoft Office 2007 choice to set Outlook 2007 as 'Run from my computer'.

4. If you're using MS Office 2007 Professional Edition and wish to also try the MS Office Outlook 2007 Business Contact Manager
Add-in run the setup for it from the Microsoft Office 2007 Professional Edition trial copy CD#2.

I followed all the mandated procedures regarding removal of prior versions of
Outlook, this to no avail. It still will not install. Everything else
installed and is working without problem. I'm using a downloaded trial
version. As for getting the "real" version, I doubt I will do so unless I
can get Outlook to work. Any suggestions?????

Hi Dave,

If you had Office 2003 check to see if you also uninstalled the Office 2003 Business Contact Manager from Add/Remove Programs in the
Windows control panel.

The Office 2007 trial editions are 'real' ones, they're just time limited.

If you don't have the 2003 Business Contact Manager and you have removed or never had any of the Office 2007 beta products, which
Office 2007 trial edition are you using? (Home & Student Edition does not include Outlook).

Bob,

The Office 2007 version I installed was Professional - Outlook was listed as
one of the programs that should have installed. As for the Office 2003
Business Contact Manager, I had removed it. A quick check of list of
programs that could be removed does not list it. Thanks for any suggestions.
