OK. I found what the problem was and fixed it. I did successfully
upgrade
(and would not know how to "fix" a PST file if I wanted to anyway).
Here's
the confusion: You said to go to "File > Open > Outlook Data File...";
however, as I stated, when going to "File > New > Outlook Data File...",
you
get a window that pops up entitled "New Outlook Data File"; it then lists
under the "Types of storage" heading a list of options to choose from and
click one of them: 1) Business Contact Manager Database; 2) WinFax Pro
(that
I have installed on my PC); 3) Office Outlook Personal Folder File (PST);
and
4) Office 97-2002 Personal Folder File (PST). After I clicked on one and
clicked OK, I received another window entitled "Create or OPEN Outlook
Data
File"; under it was a list in my OUTLOOK folder of all my PST files,
including the one that I wanted to appear in my Outlook 97. When I
clicked
on that PST file, and then clicked OK, is when I received the said error
message and process that I originally described. So, one is able to go to
FILE/NEW/OUTLOOK DATA FILE and open it in Outlook 2007. The mistake I
did,
and the reason why I was receiving this error message was that when I
received this said "New Outlook Data File" window, I chose and clicked on
"3)", when I should have clicked on "4)" (i.e. I was upgrading from
Outlook
2000). Just FYI. Thank you anyway. Ben J.

Not sure quite what to believe here anymore. Troubleshooting from the
distance of a newsgroup is difficult at best and quickly becomes
impossible
if the information we get isn't 100% accurate. If I were you I would go
back
to the basics and make sure you've done things correctly using the well
known principles posted here daily:
1. Upgrading an Outlook installation is hazardous at best and not
generally
recommended. Clean installs are preferred.
2. If you decide to upgrade, then it is imperative that you create a new
Outlook profile immediately, repair your previous PST files, and connect
them correctly to the new profile.

I know in my original message, I used the word "import" when I should
have
used "open"; however, what you just said is what I exactly stated in my
original message; ...and when I do this "pretty intuitive" method you
said, I
get these errors and messages as I discribed in my original message,
i.e.
"obtained this
message "Error, A Runtime Error has occurred. Do you wish to debug?
Line
297. Error: Access is denied." When I click NO to it, nothing
happens.
When I click YES to it, I get a window that states "Just-In-Time
Debugging.
Please select a debugger. Possible debuggers:" There are then two
choices:
"New Instances of Microsoft Script Editor", and "New Instances of
Microsoft
Script Editor 6.0". I tried both. With each one, when I click YES to
it,
I
obtained a window that states "Microsoft Script Editor. Access is
denied".
When I then try to click on the CONTINUE button, this same window
appears.
When I click then BREAK button, the window dissappears, but then only
produces an empty PERSONAL FOLDER in my OUTLOOK. What can I do to get
this
said PST Folder into Outlook? Do I need to fix it? If so, how? "
Thank
you!

You should probably start by posting a more accurate description of
what
you
did or did not do. The path you posted this time is still not the
correct
one. The method for opening an Outlook data file is pretty intuitive:
File > Open > Outlook Data File...

I don't believe I Imported it; I did not use the IMPORT/EXPORT
feature;
what
I did was open it, using the FILE/NEW/OUTLOOK DATA FILE option; what
do
you
suggest that I do to open it? Note that I even initially received
this
message when I first opened Outlook 2007 for the first time. Thank
you.

:
Importing is never the correct way to transfer Outlook data. Just
open
the
PST file.

I just upgraded Outlook 2007. I had four PST (Personal) folders
in
my
previous version. Now I have three. I tried to go to
FILE/NEW/OUTLOOK
DATA
FILE, and import this particular PST file; when I tried to, I
obtained
this
message "Error, A Runtime Error has occurred. Do you wish to
debug?
Line
297. Error: Access is denied." When I click NO to it, nothing
happens.
When I click YES to it, I get a window that states "Just-In-Time
Debugging.
Please select a debugger. Possible debuggers:" There are then
two
choices:
"New Instances of Microsoft Script Editor", and "New Instances of
Microsoft
Script Editor 6.0". I tried both. With each one, when I click
YES
to
it,
I
obtained a window that states "Microsoft Script Editor. Access is

When I then try to click on the CONTINUE button, this same window

When I click then BREAK button, the window dissappears, but then
