Outlook 2007

Until recently, my Outlook 2007 was working smoothly with my MSN Premium
services; then I discovered after trying to send attachments with my email
that Outlook now was using my previous "hotmail" account, which was free and
couldn't complete some transactions. Trying to fix the problem, I installed
Outlook Connector, when I try to set up Outlook to use MSN Premium, because
of my email address saying @hotmail.com, Outlook still uses the "free"
hotmail server(?). And MSN Premium only has a link to syncronize with Outlook
Express. If I set up my Outlook manually, what is the "server" I need to
include?

Did you remove the old HTTP account from Outlook?

Before the problem evolved, there was no reason to remove the account, things
were running smoothly. I installed Outlook Connctor, had the same problem,
contacted Microsoft Chat, got referred to an Email Handling Expert who had me
change how to open the "Send To" URL in the folders options, which failed.
Then I removed all accounts, started from scratch, and still have the same
problem of "Send To" opening in "hotmail" via Internet Explorer. When things
were running properly, "Send To" would open in MSN Explorer.

I'm not sure where you are using "Send To" from...Windows Explorer?

If you installed the Outlook Connector you would no longer need the old HTTP
account in Outlook...but you say you deleted everyhing and started from
scratch. You could also try creating a new mail profile which might change
some files that weren't changed by simply deleting the e-mail accounts.

"Send To" is in all my drop down menus any time I right click a file or
folder. When I click on "Send To", choices appear such as Create Shortcut to
Desktop, OneNote, Mail Receipient, and so on...; the Outlook Connector has in
the past and still does not fix this problem and creates others. I only use
Outlook 2007 for two accounts, my primary MSN and alternate, AOL. Both were
required of me by Microsoft. I like Outlook 2007 because it give me several
options which are not offered by MSN Premium and Internet Explorer
("hotmail"). Hotmail doesn't process the "secure" means, and MSN Explorer
doesn't have the "offline" capabilities I need (such as send to OneNote). And
I have never been able to set up an "Offline Folder".

Were you choosing "Mail Recipient" from the Send To command or were you using
some other option? I don't have any premium Windows/MSN accounts so I don't
know if they give you other options in Send To. When I choose Send To | Mail
Recipient, I get an Outlook new message window, where I can choose my sending
account, including my free Hotmail accounts via the Outlook Connector.

From the Send To command. What you explained is what I had gotten in the past
when things were good, I had to actually opt away from Outlook and the MSN
(which was set up in accounts as default), now I get hotmail from the
Internet Explorer. This also stumped an Email Handling Expert that I was
referred to by the Microsoft chat help.

Why did you have to opt away from Outlook/MSN? I mean, did someone tell you
to, or did you get an error, or what? Can you go into Internet Explorer
options and choose Outlook as your default mail program?

When I say "opt away" from Outlook/MSN, I meant that was the only way to not
send from Outlook/MSN automatically. Otherwise, my messages were going out
that way. And yes, all defaults in all programs (to include internet options
in Internet Explorer 7) is set up as "Microsoft Office Outlook" being the
default mail handler. When I first bought my Outlook 2007, I had a hard time
converting to it from Outlook Express. Now, I'm wondering if that is the
problem all over again; I was told by Office Customer Support that I needed
it to handle the News, but I found out later that MSN is who was handling
that, even though News is not one of my big interests. And now, Windows Live
handes my News. I have tried to totally delete Outlook Express, but when I
do, it just keeps coming right back into the "Programs" folder. I think this
is due to a registry key. I say this because i occasionally see an "oemsn"
server URL.

I'm not really sure if this applies anymore, but Outlook used to share some
functions with Outlook Express and deleting Outlook Express would cause
problems in Outlook. Who knows why it was designed that way, but here is an

I'm still confused, though...I thought you wanted to send through
Outlook/MSN when using the Send To option, but now you said you opted away
from using Outlook/MSN? Can you explain that more thoroughly?

As the OP is presumably on Windows XP, (using Office 2007 and having Outlook
express), then the OP cannot "delete" OE - the OP can only remove ACCESS to
it....

If it screws up Outlook either way, then removing the program vs. removing
access to the program is really six to one and a half dozen to the other,
isn't it?
