Outlook 2007

I have a new Dell Lap top running Vista. I installed the Office 2007 and
have been using Outlook until recently. Last week, I no longer was receiving
email, except in the bulk folder. I have over 1000 junk emails, and when
started deleting them I get the message "Errors have been detected in the
fileC:\Users\owner\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst. Quit Outlook
and all mail-enabled application, and then use the Inbox repair tool
(Scanpst.exe) to diagnose and repair errors in the file. For mor information
about the Inbox repair tool see Help."
First when I type in the above file it tells me it doesn't exist. I have
searched for everything I can think of including "*.pst" . The actual
(Scanpst.exe) does not exist, but a program called (Scanpst) is used. Can
someone help on this. I haven't been able to get emails now for 2 weeks.

When you say you don't see "scanpst.exe" but do see "scanpst", you're
telling me that you have the Folder Option called "Hide extensions for known
file types" enabled. Windows won't show you the extension on any known file
type, like ".exe". Disable that option and you'll see that "scanpst" and
"scanpst.exe" are the same thing.

If you cannot find your PST, that indicated you also have not enabled the
Windows option to show hidden files and folders. The WIndows user profile
contains several hidden folders that WIndows Explorer won't find unless you
enable the option to show them. Nonetheless, if you open Windows Explorer
and enter

%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Outlook

in the Address bar and then click Go, you will see the contents of the
folder where your PST most likely resides.
