outlook 2007

I am trying to import my e-mail from Outlook on my XP-machine to Outlook
(Office 2007). I export the e-mail to a .pst file on XP-machine. When I try
to import it to Office 2007 Outlook it says it is not a .pst file. I created
a compatible .pst file in Outlook on Vista (there are 2 options - I used 1997
- 2002 file creation). I set this as my default on Outlook. The file name
does say .pst that I created. Any clue as tio what I should do?

You never use export and import to transfer Outlook data, unless you want to
lose or corrupt it. Thank you for demonstrating that for everyone yet again.

I have Outlook 2000. I exported the folders I wanted on Outlook 2000 to a
file and created a CD to move to my Vista machine. I copied the .pst file to
the Outlook folder on Outlook 2007. When I use the third method it only
applies to Outlook 2003. I don't see any of the 3 methods you recommend as
working. Perhaps it was in the creation of the CD 120 Mbytes. It was
verfied after creation. When I do the following File > Data File management

add and then click on my data .pst file in the Outlook folder a message is

returned that says file is not a .pst file yet it has .pst at the end and was
created by exporting it to a .pst file in Outlook 2000. Any clues as to what
I should do. This is taking a long time and I hope I am the only one who
can't figue it out.

Was there some portion of my post you did not understand?
Shall I repeat my admonition that you never export Outlook data?
Just follow the instructions I posted.
