Outlook 2007

I have MS Office 2007 and a few weeks ago the following message started
appearing every time I opened Outlook:

"An extension failed to initiatlize. Connot open file: extend.dat. The file
may not exist, you may not have persmission to open it, or it may be open in
another program. Right-click the folder that contains the file, and then
click Properties for the folder. You don't have appropriate permission to
perform this operation."

I always click on OK and then I can use Outlook.

I cannot find the file extend.dat so I suspect it does not exist. I think it
may have been from some other software that I have uninstalled.

What can I do to get rid of the message as it is anoying to have it appear
every time I run Outlook?

Would reinsatlling Outlook work and if so would all my e-mail remain intact?

If reinstalling is the answer, how do I do as MS Office came preinstalled?

Thanks,

Alan

If you are using Outlook, you have a file called extend.dat. If you cannot
find it, then you are not searching correctly. It is a hidden file.
Find it when Outlook is closed. Rename it to extend.old. Restart Outlook.
