We're using Outlook 2000 on XP SP2 systems and there is a frequent, yet
random, issue with opening emails. I have NT and 2000 as well as XP SP1
systems running Outlook 2000 without this issue occurring, so I'm fairly
certain it's directly related to SP2. When opening an email, even with only a
couple of lines of text, it can take upwards of 10-12 seconds for the message
to open. During this time, the Outlook.exe process in the task manager runs
itself to 99. Since no one but the SP2 users are experiencing this on my
network, I have ruled out any issues with the Exchange 2000 server (running
on Windows 2000 server). I have even tried upgrading Outlook 2000 to Outlook
XP and the same problem persists.
We installed Outlook using the Office 2000 Professional suite, we're on
Office 2000 SR-1 and Service Pack 3. No other performance issues with these
machines.
Any suggestions/ solutions would be greatly appreciated as my own
workstation is one of the affected machines.
