Outlook 97 startup problem

When I try to open outllok 97 I get error message that "The programm has
performed illegal operation and will shut down (Outlook caused an invalid
page fault in module <unknown> at 0000:00000001." And then it shut down
without loading it. I have uninstalled and then reinstalled Outllok 97
number of times but to no effect.
How can I start this programm.

Have you installed all available updates for OL97, e.g. SR-1? See

I have installed a few upgrade and the one that you mention may also be
there. But previously I was able to open Outlook but suddenly one day I could
not open it. Also
The problem is that when I start outlook I get a message that “It can not
find file C:\Programm files\McAfee\McAfeevirusscan\Scanemail.dll. You may be
out of memory ………†I have removed the Mcafee program previously that is why
it can not find this file. how to remove this message popping up each time.

Is the above message and phenomena causing outlook not to open?

It could be. Use REGEDIT to locate "scanemail.dll" in the registry and
remove the entry that mentions it. It should be under one of the Outlook
keys.
