Outlook Address Book Contacts

After carrying out an software update form the Microsoft
site yesterday I am no longer able to see my contacts when
I am addressing an email.

When I tried to add an address from contact to an email
Outlook closes and the message is Outlook.exe error
writing message to error log.

I would appreciate any help on this.
