Outlook Address Book & contacys in outlook ?

Started using Outlook and entering names as contacts. When receiving emails
and sending emails I usually add to my "Outlook Address Book" . However when
I try to add a contact 's address to an email I can't acccess it.. And if I
go into the address book I only get a disjointed series of names (by first
name) whereas my contact list of address's are sorted by surname (& could
easily be sorted by other fields - ie address, first name etc. ).

What version of Outlook, and how are you "adding to my Outlook addressbook"?
The Outlook addressbook is purely a view of the Contacts folder, to
facilitate adding recipients to an email - nothing more.

In addition to Gordon's comment, and depending on your version of Outlook
(which you never mention), click Tools>E-mail Accounts>View or change
existing directories or address books>Next. Select "Outlook Address Book"
and click Change. Select the display order there. You may have to stop and
restart Outlook for it to take effect.
