Outlook Address Book

I have tried various suggestions posted all over the internet and nothing has
worked so far.

On a new machine, using VISTA and Outlook 2007, I used Windows Easy Transfer
to copy files from Windows XP & Outlook 2007. "Show this folder as an OAB is
grayed so I cannot tic the box.

I tried to remove the OAB from the address book tab (in order to re-add it )
but the "delete" is also grayed out. I tried setting up a new profile. Same
problem.

My contact data is all there. But, I still cannot open a new message and
select "To" to get an address from the OAB. It is blank.

This seems to be a common problem so why hasn't MS come up with a solution?

It has been posted here countless times. You should never use Windows Easy
Transfer with Outlook. The profile it creates is corrupt. Create a new
profile and use one of the supported methods for migrating your data. The
simplest is simply to open your previous data file and use it in the new
profile. Once you do that, you will be able to configure the Outlook Address
Book.

Thanks, Russ. Funny how MS products won't work with each other...

I wish it were funny. Embarrassing and unforgiveable is more like it. It's
like no one ever talks to each other at Microsoft.
