Outlook and LCS client "Communicator"

Luca

Hi I have a question about different LCS clients and how they are linked with
Outlook.
If I am not wrong Communicator 2005 is the recommended client for LCS and it
works closely with Outlook providing rich features, but can it function
without Outlook or Outlook has to be installed.
Thanks for your help, Luca

Luca,

Communicator reads your Outlook Calendar and provides input for your
"presence". For instance if you are in a meeting, and I search for you on
communicator it will show that you are in a meeting. Communicator does not
need outlook to work, but you won't see this functionality. If you integrate
it with a PSTN Gateway, you can even set it so when you are getting a phone
you'll see it on your computer. If you have any other questions please let
me know.
