Outlook and VPN Problems

I have a VPN set up on my laptop so that when I am at home connected
through wireless to my broadband, I still access the server and send
and recieve through outlook. We also use Microsoft CRM which
intergrates with outlook. All this works fine at home, but I am working
out of a new office now and I'm having problems. There is an open
wireless network, I can connect fine and browse the web etc. I can dial
the VPN connection and connect fine, I am also connevt and use
Microsoft CRM perfectly, however for some reason I cannot send and
receive outlook.

I've tried everything but cannot work out why I am unable to connect.
Can anyone suggest what might be the problem, as its driving me mad.

can you resolve the mail server by name?
(start-->run-->ping <youremailservernamehere>)

what happens when you try to connect?

OK I tried pinging the server but there was no responce. Strange how
the VPN connects but cannot access the server when on a different
connection...
Any other suggestions?
