Outlook & aol

I can't send e-mails using Outlook to any client with an aol address. First
the delivery is delayed & then 'the recipient could not be reached. Could not
deliver the message in the time limit specified.' This has only just started
happening.
Can anyone help?

If you work for a compnay that has it own domain check with the host that
they have set up ReverseDNS for your mail server, if you send lots of emails
to AOL then you might want to get on their whitelist also check out AOL
troubleshooting section

Hi - this isn't an Outlook issue - it has something to do with the mail
server you send mail through. AOL is getting very picky, due to spam.

If you have an in-house mail server, talk to the admin (Noel's advice is
sound) - if you don't, call your mail host or ISP and ask them for help.

Thank you very much. I tried AOL who referred the problem to a technical
advisor who i have not heard from. Our IT support company at work want to
install something costing us £190 per year but we are not sure wether they
are conning us. i think i had better leave it to them and we will pay the
money unless we can sort it out ourselves

I work in IT Support and we have just sorted it for two of our clients, for
the first client a straightforward Reverse DNS that the ISP "forgot" to
setup at inception and the second client had to apply for the AOL whitelist.
I would be very interested what the £190.00 install is. Not knowing your
setup but most of the problems that we come across nearly always were
resolved by contacting the host.

What is it?

Hard to say without knowing what it is and what it does - also, you haven't
stated what you are running for a mail server, nor where it is located. :)

Post back or post in an Exchange NG and you may get some advice on this
topic....

Thank you - we have a BT server & our IT support said it was a problem that
has just occurred between BT & aol. I got suspicious when no-one had heard of
the problem & aol didn't answer. The firm pays for outside IT support.
We do not have many aol clients, but I will see what a 'whitelist' is & how
much it costs.
The support firm said the money would 'solve our problem with difficult
domains'
PS: I do not work in IT anymore - just tax!
