outlook application hang

i have a problem with one xp (sp2) pc with outlook 2003. outlook always hang
and then you cant use the system anymore. you cant shutdown, logoff from the
system. also the taskmanager doesnt close the application

i had the problem on the pc for a longer time. yesterday i reinstalled the
pc and today the same problem start again.

does anyone know how to fix this?

i created yesterday a complete new one (mapi)
this morning after the first time i deleted already the extend.dat to see
what happens

Do not forget to rename the outcmd.dat.

If the new profile also doesnot work, try outlook/safe from START->RUN
Also the safe mode with networking for windows is worth a try,
If either of these work, then its a problem with some addins or ther
programs interfering with outlook... like an antivirus or a search tool bar.
Try disabling them

try renaming the outcmd.dat and extend.dat.
I will recommend you trying a new profile to see whether this has anything
to do with the data file as such.
