Outlook as a CRM

I am looking at using Outlook as a CRM for my contact information. It will
primarily be used to track activities such as direct mailings for different
industries.

Will I be able to update multiple records at once? More specifically, since
the contacts cover several industries, different groups will be targeted so
I'll need to track which customers are contacted for each campaign.

However, if I will have to manually update up to 1,000 contacts to state that
a mailer was sent out, Outlook won't be viable.

Unless you are going to use categories to track this, you'll need to update
each one.

Frankly, Outlook is not a robust CRM. It's a PIM. It can handle some limited
CRM functions for smaller numbers of contacts.

Diane,

That confirms what I was thinking. My project planning/tracking is too
complex for Outlook to be a CRM and I don't trust Access since it's too easy
to lose information.

That being said, I'm stuck using Excel as a 'would be' CRM unless anyone has
any better 'no budget' CRM ideas........

Thanks again!
