Outlook Attachment confirmation in Vista

I recently bought a new PC with Vista on it when my last one died in a power
cut. I reinstalled my Office XP , and have found a few of the "features" on
Vista (such as not saving passwords)

Whenever I try to open certain normal attachments (such as .jpg), it asks me
whether I want to save or open the attachment. However the tickbox to "Always
ask before opening this type of file" is greyed out, so I can never change it.

In WinXP, you could go into the file types and change this option, but the
Vista equivalent does not have this option. Is it possible to add a registry
entry to change this behaviour? It's only really annoying with common
extensions that my virus checker would catch anyway...

The password feature is due to Outlook, pre 2003, not being compatible with
Vista
I believe the 'allways ask' feature is a Vista security thing, that being
the case you might need to ask on a Vista group.

Thanks - I hadn't thought about the reduced rights when running normally. I
used DropMyRights on XP for the last year or so, but by then I'd probably
answered all the questions...

I just tried it now with a few different file extensions and it works fine

Thanks again,
YJ

it is odd, because when I have checked the registry the settings were ok (ie
"EditFlags"=hex:00,00,00,00 like I wanted) but it wasn't working
but after a reboot, the settings were more logic (ie
"EditFlags"=hex:00,00,01,00).
so I have changed the registry entry to "EditFlags"=hex:00,00,00,00 and now
it is working perfectly

thx for your help
cheers,
