I have multiple terminal servers (all Windows 2003 Server) running Outlook
2003. In the past few weeks, users have complained on one of the servers
that they have had issues opening attachments. I've narrowed it down to
attaching embedded emails or vcards. When they open the attachment the first
time, they can see it appear in the temp folder. When they close it, the
file goes away. But, when they attempt to open the attachment again they get
the message "the operation failed" and the file never shows up in their temp
folder. If I go out of Outlook, then open it again, the attachment works the
same way - just once. I’ve cleared the cache by emptying their OLK folder in
“Temporary Internet Filesâ€, but that didn’t help. I even created a new user
with only default settings and nothing in cache – I get the same problem.
