Outlook autofill resetting every day....

I work HelpDesk Support at a small business (~120 users), and quite a
few of our users are having problems with their Outlook 2003 autofill
resetting every day. It's like it is set to only cache them for 1 day
or something.

For example, the emails they sent today still show up in Autofill...and
will continue to show up the rest of the day. But come tommorrow, they
will be gone again.

It's almost similar to Internet Explorer's "Days to keep page in
history" being set at 1 day. Is there a similar setting for Outlook
2003 that could be doing that?

something is causes the *xml file that stores the cache to be rewritten
daily. Are you using roaming profiles? Is outlook closing properly? (It's
only saved when outlook closes.)

We aren't using roaming profiles, these are users logging into their
personal workstation at their desk every day. I'm assuming that they
are closing Outlook properly. We are running an Exchange server, is it
possible that this info is caching to the server, and it isnt being
saved somehow?

While I have to defer to people who know much more than me, I do have a
thought about this situation. I ran across one instance that sounds
similar. This issue related to profiles on the desktop being usurped so to
speak by profiles downloaded from the Exchange server. Since this didn't
happen to me, but rather a customer of mine, I apologize for the details
being fuzzy. The short of it is that the NK2 files are probably not
corrupted or actually part of your problem. I think if you look into your
registry you may find more than one profile for these users.

Sorry I can't be more help, but hopefully I will spark something that will
get the very smart folks who do most of the responding around here some
ideas that may help.

it doesn't cache to the server - it's saved at C:\Documents and
Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook.

Have them close Outlook then look in task manager to see that it closed
before logging off or shutting down.
