Outlook automatically marking as "read"

Hello
I have Outlook checking two IMAP mail accounts. For one of them Outlook is
marking as "Read" all incoming email without any action from me. I don't use
the reading pane. The problem doesn't occur with the other email account.
It just started happening without any obvious action on my part.
Using both OL2003 & OL2007 (office & home!) to access the IMAP account.

No new virus checker; no blackberry; nothing new.

Any suggestions for a possible cause and remedy gratefully received.

i don't know the answer, but i'd start with Tools, Options, Mail Services
tab, Mail Options.

Thanks but I've spent a bit of time in there looking for options.

I happened to be looking at the screen as it marked some emails as "read".
There were two messages "new" & "unread" and as another mail came in OL2007
marked them both as "read".
This is a real pain - any ideas anyone?
