Outlook Back Up Files Problem

I am using Outook Express 5. I backed up the .dbx (ie Inbox.dbx
personal.dbx etc) folders sometime ago. I have now lost a lot of mails and
have no idea how to insert the backed up files into OE.
Is there an easy way of getting OE to read these files????
Help.

Copy the files into a folder on your HDD. You DID copy the file called
folders.dbx, didn't you? then in OE just do an import.

If you DIDN'T copy the file called folders.dbx then OE will not recognise
the folder as a message store. In that case, in OE create new folders with
EXACTLY the same names as the ones you want to restore. Close OE. Copy the
old files into your current Message Store location. When asked if you want
to overwrite, say yes.
Open OE and they should all be there.

BTW, FYI this newsgroup is for support of Outlook
97/98/2000/2002/2003(beta) from the Office suite of products. Outlook
Express is actually a separate program despite the similar name.

For help with your OE questions, try an OE newsgroup such as
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress (for OE 6), or
an OE help website such as http://insideOE.tomsterdam.com. If you're
accessing the Microsoft newsgroups through the MS Product Support
Services "Community Newsgroups" web interface, click
http://communities.microsoft.com/newsgroups/default.asp?icp=InternetExplorer
to get to the Internet Explorer groups, then click the plus sign next to
your version of IE to see the link to the Outlook Express group for that
version number. Good luck!

Sorry - this NG is NOT for Outlook, but anyway, OE is not part of Office and
the rest stands!

Hi. first copy the files from your backup place to an empty folder (Not
where you currently have your .dbx files). Next take off the read only
attribute. Now,k import from the folder where you have the .dbx files. Good
luck.
