Outlook BCM and MSDE SP3a

Just realized that Outlook BCM uses MSDE as the database.
The MSDE only has Service Pack 1 installed so is
unprotected from SQL Slammer. I am trying to apply SP3a
to MSDE, but am running into problems. The sorts of
errors I'm getting seem to indicate that setup program
does not recognize the BCM installed instance of MSDE.

Has anybody else had any experience applying SP3a to BCM?
