It is understandable that the Blocked Attachments function is now working,
what with how viruses can be spread, especially when people arne't sure what
the different file types are. That said, it should be a customizable feature
such as "Hide file extensions of known file types" is a customizable option.
The file types extension option is turned on by default, and Microsoft can
make the "Block attachments with the following extensions" as a setting that
is defaulted to be On. This way people can choose to turn off the blocking if
they wish, with a warning similar to that about running macros within Excel
spreadsheets, and as such clearing Microsoft from liability for any actions
afterwards.
