Outlook Blocking Access to Excel Attachment

B

Bobbi

Hi All:

I have a mixed OS and Office environment at work. I upgraded my XP Pro
user to Office 2003 yesterday. Now any Excel attachments from my W2k/Outlook
98 user are being blocked by the Office 2003 users. The message receives is
as follows:

Outlook blocked access to the following potentially unsafe attachments
Shortcut to name of file.xls.

The Outlook 98 user is attaching the files properly and I have even
tried from her PC. I have also tried editing the registry on my PC to Remove
Level 1 security in Office 2003 but that has not solved the problem either.
I know the most likely solution would be to update my 98 Outlook user but she
does not have enough hard drive space to update her OS and Office. Any
assistance with this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The attachment is being blocked on your end. Nothing you do on the sending machine will change that. You should remove xls from both the Level1Remove and Level1Add registry values on your machine and restart Outlook.
